You Can Tour The Oldest Lighthouse In Indiana And It’s The Perfect Summer Adventure
Located in one of the state’s most popular port towns is the oldest lighthouse in Indiana. Guests can tour this ancient wonder as well as explore the accompanying museum.

Tucked away in the northwest corner of Indiana, along Lake Michigan, is one of the most underrated museums in the state. If you love all things nautical, then this is the destination for you.


Guests are admitted April through October and the cost is just $5 for visitors age 14 and up while young children may enter for just $2. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., the museum offers both self-guided, docent-led, and audio tours. Admission gets anyone who is more than 5 yeas of age all the way up into the lantern tower.

Though it started as a "postlight" in 1835, the permanent structure was built and put into use in 1837.
On this tour, guests will learn all about the previous keepers of Indiana's oldest lighthouse. These dedicated workers had their own room in the lighthouse where they lived and kept the light shining for passing ships.
